Are you my mother?

"Are you the kind of mother that washes her kids mouths out with soap if they say a bad word?"
"No. I give them cookies."
"Is Andrew Jensen my father?"

This is reason number one of one bajillion why my "mother" is the coolest.

It's the final countdown

If you are anyone, then you know I am a ginormous Harry Potter fan.
but let's get the record straight, the books, not the movies. Talk to me later about the movies

Like, no joke. I freaking read the first book when I was 5. Sure I didn't entirely understand it and I thought Harry was to become a slave at a meat/pig factory called Hogwarts and Dumbledore and Hagrid were evil people who kidnapped Harry, but that's besides the point.

I study HP
I worship HP
Like everyone else, I wish I wasn't a muggle and I was IN HP

So to celebrate, I have concocted a reading schedule to keep me on the straight and narrow path. If you would like to follow, be my guest.

1     Sorcerer's Stone                    by          June 21
2     Chamber of Secrets              by          June 24
3     Prisoner of Azkaban              by          June 27
4     Goblet of Fire                         by          July 1
5     Order of the Phoenix             by          July 4th
6     Half-Blood Prince                  by          July 7th
7     Deathly Hallows                     by           the night of July 14th while sitting in line!

happy reading

Alaska, aye?

Guess who survived Trek?

Guess who made it to Zion in one piece?

Yeah thats me.

So basically trek was the greatest thing ever. It actually was a better spiritual experience than EFY ever was (I still love you LOTS EFY). Even though I loved doing it, I probably wouldn't do it again because I actually like taking showers every day and washing my hair and avoiding mosquitos and tents and all the stuff that comes with camping. So summary: it was great, but it's something I will do once.

My familia was so holy and numero uno:

Ma and Pa Hulley were so legit. Ma was pregnant. Like, fo reals pregnant. None of that fake baby stuff. So we took good care of her. Pa was from South Africa, so we soaked up every word he said because his accent was awesome. And he taught us how to throw knives at each others feet!
Parker was the funniest kid ever. We made up some awesome pioneer jokes together. Conversations with him were never dull. And he was always pushing the cart. He was awesome.
Kevin was the coolest kid ever. He has such a strong testimony that he always shared with others. And as our big/oldest brother, he was always taking care of us. He was always helping. Always.
Rhett. What do you say about him? He was always the wandering and lost child. But he was also super funny!
GABBY! Hehehe. She never complained. Even when we yelled choruses of her name. GABBY! But honestly, she was a great sister and never complained. And she was tough!
Lea's my favorite! Haha I don't play favorites, but if I did, she would win. She's the cutest little sister ever. And we had some good talks in the tent late and night. She's going to be one of the coolest freshmen ever. And even though she was small, man she hauled that cart!
And of course Danielle and Chase. But they're already like my family. We had some good times.

Some awesome things that happened:

  • We did the Sweetwater River "crossing" which consisted of walking alongside the ankle high part of the river instead of crossing it.
  • Then the next day, we expected no river crossings. Instead we got 30 degree weather, wind, mud, cold, and 10 waist deep river crossings!
  • The women's pull. Wow. It was great. The men respected us women and might I say Dani and I hauled that cart up that hill like there was no tomorrow!
  • Square dancing. Chase and I owned square dancing!
  • Martin's Cove was such a great spiritual experience.
  • I washed myself in the river. And my dress. And my hair. I told you I only do things if pioneers did them.
That's about all I can remember. But all in all it was a great four days. I've never felt the spirit that much in life as I did up in stupid Wyoming. It was great :)

And walked and walked and walked some more

guess who's gonna be a pioneer?
oh that's me. And no, I don't go to Lehi High.
This is my last hoorah before I drop off the face of the planet for 4 days. I'll let you know how it goes.
I'm actually quite excited.

I have an excuse to
get down and dirty and not care what anyone thinks because pioneers were supes awes.
say "Do you know who my dad is?". Because it's a valid question.
wear french braids because I love them with all my heart
sing "Pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked some more"
maybe become a polygamist, but we won't talk about that.
                              what happens on the plains,
                                                   stays on the plains.
hang out with my two bestest friends in the whole entire world, Danielli and Chase Face
get away from the world (namely boys) for 4 entire days. No cell phones, no boys, no music, no boys, no violent books, no boys, no band, no boys, no work, no NOTHING.
be in tune with nature, gain a stronger testimony, become a better daughter of God, all the sappy good stuff we LDS peeps love :)

but seriously, who doesn't want to be a pioneer?

I'm not emo, I wore a freaking purple flower in my hair!

Today was just one of those days....
I wasn't feeling the bestest. But I went to summer band, as usual, and we didn't have to run, so that made me happy. I was freaking out about certain things Bao and I have to do but haven't yet. Great....
And then Chrissy and I secluded ourselves in the Drum Major room....hehehe oh how I love the dm room. I could live there all day if I wanted. Anyways, we sat there talking about how stupid boys are, because that's a darn fact. And we ate cinnamon rolls and lounged around and did nothing while I avoided work and ranted on boys some more. And then our student teacher joined us and we trashed boys some more more. Haha. Sorry boys. And then I went to work for 12 hours but I got a paycheck for 258 dolleros. Woot. And tomorrow I actually get to sleep in. Tomorrow is also the first parade of the season. double woot. And now I'm just rambling again. And yeah....

Moral of the story: I'm not emo
It was just one of those days I didn't want to be nice to people but I had to. I just wanted to say: "Screw the world!", but I couldn't.
Tomorrow will be better. I promise.

Resume Attractiveness. HUT.

As I have no life outside of marching band whatsoever, I will do a post about marching band!

Saturday morning:

I wake up early, as always, and give up my first and only free Saturday to do what else? A marching band clinic.
We meet at Timpview, squeeze 6 full size teenagers (no that was not a fat joke) into my teeny car and head off to the unknowns of American Fork High School. Might I add we successfully found our way to the school without getting lost once? Yeah, success.

We arrive safe and sound and receive our t-shirts, which were exactly the same as last year. Pssh. Rip off much? We see Mr. Summerhays our old student teacher and say hello because he's just that cool. Then we broke off into groups, and the section leaders made their way to a room while the youngins went to march. [Side note: American Fork and a lot of other high schools have a weird marching style. Example A: their attention position includes their feet in first position, not together. And they clasp their hands as if they are praying. Not saying it's bad, just different....]

So Bao, Christian, and Jonathan step into the room and I, having been to the clinic before, know that it's a good idea to not sit by people from your school. So I purposefully sit miles away from my boys and find a chair all by it's lonesome self. Eventually though, someone I don't know comes to sit by me. We're all trying to learn each others names and it's super fun to get to know one another from other schools. We had a really good lesson on leadership and had some really fun activities. Once the leadership session was over, they sent the section leaders out and did a lesson specifically for drum majors, and our numbers were obviously fewer. This is where the attractive drum majors come in. I had sat down the very first time and this attractive boy who we will call "Trevor" (because I have always wanted to marry someone named Trevor) sat down next to me. He was super cute and learned my name fast and made a point to use it as often as possible. He kept on talking to me and even when they told us to sit by someone we didn't know, he always came back to me. We clicked instantly and even though I'm not a great picker upper of flirting, he obviously was.

The whole day was like that and I started imagining our musically inclined children.

ha.
just kidding
Really though, JK guys.
So I got kinda sorta slightly jealous when he was working on maces with another girl drum major and I sat like a bum on the grass because our school doesn't use maces. And plus they had in common that they both want to be music educators.
and i don't
another reason to become a music teacher, eh?
Pathetic, I know.
Then, as the clinic was ending and all the drum majors are saying goodbye and wishing each other good luck on their band's season and talking about salute circles and band dances, "Trevor" walks away to his school's bus to go back all the way yonder up north and I see him chatting with his bandmates. He's walking next to a girl and slips his hand into hers.
A stab to my heart.

stupid boys
proof that I am a teenage girl.

PIE season

Summer Band!

forhollaz!!!

oh goodness I don't ever believe I've enjoyed summer band this much.
I thought I would have withdrawals from playing my beloved clarinet, but I'm not! So all is well. Sure I accidently tried to drill the band when they were standing ready, but who cares?

I realized how much I actually love helping the band. Even though sometimes, okay, well A LOT of the times the freshmen get frustrated, I love working with them and setting them up for success. It's like I was meant to do this. Maybe I'll be a music teacher! hahahah. JK. You believed that? Look up at your ceiling because someone wrote gullible up there.

Anywho....I heart summer band. And I'm so excited for this whole marching band season and parades and fall and tour and everything that comes with the package deal! ACK!

forhollaz!!!
